1. Cut up some fresh fruit for breakfast. Men are much more likely to develop a fruit habit if it is cut up and presented to them. Try oranges, mandarin, banana, kiwi fruit, rockmelon or pawpaw.
2. Fire up of barbie! To get right proportion of the food in the plate, find way to incorporate some vegetables and cut back on protein portion. Try skewers of lean meat, chicken or fish mixed with red and green capsicum, mushrooms or chunks of peeled sweet potato. Corn cobs are also great cooked on the barbecue. Grilled fresh asparagus or slice of sweet potato or pumpkin are delicious. Small whole onion cook easily if turned frequently on the hot plate. It's also good idea to marinate meat or chicken in a mixture that include a little honey and olive oil as it helps reduce formation of any possible carcinogenic substances during barbecue.

4. Be creative with salad. Give Dad a recipe book that includes delicious Asian and Mediterranean style salad. Make green salad more popular by blancing broccoli, green beans and snow peas boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then plugging in to basin of iced water for a minute or so. Drain and toss with a little extra virgin olive oil, a spoonful of balsamic vinegar and some toasted sesame seeds.
5. Ask dad to play active game. Most love backyard cricket and few men can resist trying their skills with a basketball ring.
6. How about sking before the season ends? Or find a warm swimming pool and start training to be ready for summer or just enjoy some water polo.
7. Get him off the coach and look for some local hiking trails and suggest a weekend walk and go orienteering. Even a short daily walk around the block is a good start. Good luck!
